Josephat Obi Oguejiofor took his Ph.D. in philosophy from Catholic University of Louvain at Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium in 1994. Before then he bagged a B.A. in philosophy; BD in theology and an MA in philosophy.

All in First Class Honours (Summa cum laude)

He also obtained a Master’s degree in theology from Louvain, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of London with distinction.
Fr. Oguejiofor taught philosophy, theology and Church history at Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu, where he was at various times Dean, Vice Rector and Rector.
In 2006 he became a professor of philosophy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria, where he later served as Head of Department of Philosophy, Dean of Faculty of Arts, and Director of the School of General Studies.Fr, Oguejiofor was the President of the Nigerian Philosophical Association (NPA); President of the Catholic Theological Association of Nigeria (CATHAN); President of the International Society for African Philosophy and Studies (ISAPS). He was a two time research fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Bonn, Germany and also of the Volkswagen Foundation, Hannover, Germany. His research interests include African Philosophy and Theology; Medieval Philosophy and Analytic Philosophy. He has written and edited 13 books and in all made over a hundred publications including many articles in learned journals. In addition to his native Igbo language and English, Fr. Oguejiofor has a solid knowledge of Medieval Latin and is fluent in both French and German.
In September 2022, Prof Oguejiofor became the Vice Chancellor of Olivia University in Burundi.
