Shanahan University Prepares for Inaugural Igbo Day

Today, representatives of the School of General Studies, Shanahan University, visited two traditional rulers: the traditional ruler of Ivite-Anam, His Royal Highness Sunday Udorji Emmanuel Ọzọemena (Igwe Oranyeli I of Ivite-Anam Kingdom), and the traditional ruler of Ojoto, His Royal Highness Igwe Gerald Mbamalụ (Eze Ojoto III, Eze Ọranyelụ I).

The representatives were led by the Director of General Studies, Prof. Ngozi Ezenwa-Ohaeto.

While we did not meet directly with the Ojoto ruler, we had the honour of meeting his representative, the Prime Minister, High Chief Sir Romeo Anyisia (Okanga Ojoto).

These visits were in preparation for Shanahan University’s upcoming inaugural Igbo Day celebration, scheduled to hold on the 13th of June, 2026 and organized by the School of General Studies.

However, our efforts go beyond mere preparation. We sought to connect with the custodians of Igbo culture and tradition so that they may grace the occasion, guide us, and help deepen our understanding of authentic Igbo heritage. Their insights will be invaluable as we engage with some of the complex aspects of Igbo culture.

We look forward to a successful and enlightening inaugural Igbo Day at Shanahan University.
